Description
This map was physically drawn line-by-line by a HP DraftMaster II a legendary large-format business plotter from the late 1980s. Using Plotopia.art, we created this map featuring an intricate network of streets, pathways, and the meandering Arakawa, Nakagawa, and Kyū-Nakagawa rivers of the great city of Tokyo.
From Data to Ink: The entire plotting process took approximately 81 minutes of rhythmic mechanical movement on RA1 size paper. Every stroke is genuine ink on paper, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece where slight variations —ink flow, machine tolerances, even pen pressure— make each map truly unique. We made a video about the process so you can watch it unfold.
Why Choose Plotopia?
- Authentic Vintage Tech: Created on restored industrial hardware, not a standard printer.
- Hypnotic Process: Watch our behind-the-scenes videos to see the robot at work.
- Limited Edition: No two plots are identical due to natural ink flow and machine tolerances.
- Premium Materials: Printed on high-quality archival paper suitable for framing.
Available Formats: Choose from A3 to A0 (Portrait). Large formats showcase the intricate details of Tokyo’s massive urban grid. Contact us for custom options, or go to Plotopia.art and create your own custom Tokyo map with our user-friendly map designer.
